  • This was Dylan Lupton’s first NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway and first superspeedway race in the series.
  • Lupton was running 14th at the time of his lap-139 crash
  • Lupton had been running solidly in the top 15 for a majority of the race
  • Lupton’s race-ending accident on lap 139 was caused by a blown left-rear tire
  • The No. 28 Ford Mustang had previously sustained damage in an 18-car crash on lap 123

“Daytona can be a really frustrating track. We made great strides from our two practice sessions yesterday and the car was handling pretty good throughout the race. I decided to stay with the front pack to gain as much experience as I could during the first two stages. Unfortunately, we were short on fuel and had to make a stop that had us restarting in the back with not many laps to go. And as it so often happens at plate races, we were a victim of circumstance and got collected in the big one. We were able to continue running with damage after that, but then we cut a left-rear tire that turned us into the outside wall and ended our day. Our crew guys worked hard over the off season on this car and it’s disappointing that our race ended as it did. I want to thank JGL Racing and thinQ Technology Partners for giving me this opportunity. I am looking forward to getting back on track in Atlanta next weekend.”
